What Are Some Good Rock Climbing Equipment Companies?

I am just starting out in rock climbing and I am looking to buy my own equipment. Is it okay to buy used equipment? And what are some good brands?

   In general I would stay away from used gear, especially load bearing stuff like rope, slings and protection.

   Good brands include:

   – Petit Dru
   – Petzl
   – Clog
   – Black Diamond
   – Mad Rock
   – Mammut
   – Camp
   – Grivel
   – Metolius
   – Beal
   – Edelrid
   – La Sportiva

   – Camp

   Thats all I can think of for now, there’s probably enough there but I’ll add more as I think of them.
